Who Should Take This Course?
This course is designed for a school administrator or teacher-in-charge of the accreditation process. Ideally, this course should be started a full 18 months ahead of the anticipated date of school visitation by the accrediting committee. If you are running a bit behind, this course can help you get back on track.
How This Course Will Prepare Schools for Accreditation
There are three basic stages of accreditation:
- Initial accreditation application and training
- School self study report involving all staff
- Hosting the accreditation Visiting Committee and follow up
This course provides educators and school leaders with the key requirements of each stage. It shares practical tips for success and items "for your consideration", based on the author's twenty years of experience in education and accreditation.
This course helps school leaders make the accreditation process a seamless fit with the other kinds of strategic planning and data review the school already is doing as part of its continual review and improvement cycle.
Course Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the school leader will know how to:
- Involve all stakeholders in self-study accreditation and reporting
- Distribute and manage the data collection and report writing required
- Author a self-study report to increase its clarity and meet the Commissioners expectations
- Prepare for and host the Visiting Committee at your school
- Design and use a School-wide Action Plan in a purposeful, effective, and ongoing way
What’s the difference between earning a one-year and a six-year accreditation? Often, it’s that a school has effective systems in place to foster communication and collaboration between its educators.
This course helps schools organize their communication structures, plan their self-study process, and write their reports.
